Dr. Peter Michael Tan is a renowned oral and maxillofacial surgeon with over three decades of office and hospital experience spanning private practice associateship, solo practitioner, group practice owner/partner, academician, consultant, professional societies/associations President and a remarkable Army career spanning 36 years of selfless service to our nation. He currently serves as the Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army (CASA), an appointed 3-Star protocol advisor to the Secretary of the Army. He also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees at HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital.

Dr. Tan was a founding owner/partner of a major private surgical practice in Maryland, serving multiple generations of patients across several states and the District of Columbia. His practice, which he retired from after 30 years in 2019, was known for its compassionate care and exceptional expertise in their hospital and office settings. Dr. Tan has held the highest leadership roles in local, state and national professional societies and associations. He valued his 15 years in academia, including faculty appointments at several institutions including American Dental Association, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology for Emergency Simulations. He has been published numerous times in publications and textbooks. He has also been inducted into several honorary fellowships and received the 2024 American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Humanitarian Award.

Regarding his military career, as part of four generations that have served in uniform, Dr. Tan completed 36 years in the U.S. Army Medical Department (AMEDD) as a Dental Corps officer, achieving the rank of Colonel before his retirement. His decorated military service includes serving as a clinician, Department Chief, Commander and the Reserve Dental Corps Chief, the highest Reserve Dental Corps officer in the Corps, the Office of the Surgeon General and the Pentagon.
